Father’s Day in Georgia, celebrated under the MenCare campaign, forms part of a broader initiative by UNFPA, the European Union, and the Government of Sweden to promote gender equality, challenge stereotypes, and encourage men’s involvement in family life and childcare.
We are glad that Father's Day has become a tradition and is celebrated by fathers, children and families. By celebrating Father’s Day, we want to emphasize once again the importance of involving fathers in the process of raising children, the importance of equal parenting and partnership, because each and every person can make a unique contribution to achieving gender equality.
Lela Bakradze, Head of the UNFPA Georgia Country Office
Georgia celebrates Father’s Day for the seventh time as part of the MenCare campaign, initiated by UNFPA Georgia and the NGO Care Together. Across the country, events are organized to highlight the role of fathers and promote equal parenting. In Tbilisi’s Mziuri Park, an interactive treasure-hunt game called "Father Tongue" brings together fathers and children, with winning teams receiving family trips and prizes.
As part of the celebration, two murals by artist Lia Ukleba were created in Akhaltsikhe and Ozurgeti, based on illustrations by Sonia Eliashvili and Tatia Nadareishvili. The artworks depict fathers and children collaborating and sharing joyful moments, symbolizing partnership and care within families.
